Installation questions
1) How do I check if my computer has USB2 ports or USB1.1 ports?
a) The best way to verify the USB port type is to check the spec of the motherboard installed on your PC computer.
b) In case the computer motherboard manufacturer and model is not available, it is possible to get such information from the PC BIOS program. To do so you must have some understanding of the PC system, do not attempt to enter the BIOS program if you do not have good background of the PC system.
c) Additional option is to run the KeyScan application and try to scan, the KeyScan software attempt to verify that your system do have USB2 port, in case it detect that your system has only USB1.1 port this information is completely valid, but if it detected that your PC has USB2 connection port, this validation is not always fully reliable.
d) In general most computers systems produced from 2004 and later are most likely to have USB2 ports, most PC units produced before 2002 are most likely USB1.1 systems. PC systems produce between 2002 and 2004 may or may not have USB2 ports, must be checked carefully.
2) I want to use KeyScan on my computer but the computer has only USB1.1 ports?
a) You should buy a USB2 add on PCI card and install it in your PC.
b) Make sure windows recognize the new USB ports as USB2 and apply them the USB2 drivers.
c) Connect the KeyScan scanner to the new USB2 ports.
3) Should I connect the KeyScan USB2 cable to the PC front USB port or back USB port.
a) Connect KeyScan USB2 cable to the USB connectors on the rear connector panel of your PC.
b) The rear connector panel is connected directly to the PC motherboard while the front USB connectors are connected internally through a cable which is not always of the required high quality for USB2. This will cause the front USB2 connectors to have limited performance and fail to meet USB2 spec.

a) Make sure the KeyScan KS810 is connected to your PC with the KeyScan original USB2 cable.
b) Turn on your PC and let windows finish startup process.
c) Look at the rear connector panel of the KS810 (right where the USB cable is connected to the KS810 unit).

e) In case you do not have such blinking light-
f) Try to disconnect the USB cable from the KS810 (if the power cable is connected disconnect also the power cable).
g) After 10 seconds reconnect the USB cable ad the Green light should start blinking within 10-20 seconds.
h) If you still do not have the blinking light try to restart your PC and repeat the above process.
i) After you do see the blinking Green light, open any word processing application and try to use you KeyScan keyboard.

Some mistakes on registry editing may cause great damage to your system and software applications installation.
